Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Cardiff runner
Cardiff Council asked GoodGym to help an elderly couple, Mr and Mrs E, with some lawn maintenance.
Flying the flag for GoodGym was Sean. He arrived promptly at the address and was greeted by Mr E. He directed Sean around the back of the property where the equipment was stored. They both brought out the lawnmower and strimmer. Mr E patiently showed Sean how to function the machines.
There were two areas of lawn either side of a path, the grass over a foot in length on each. Sean was unsure how best to proceed, so spent a few minutes making his mind up.
First, the strimmer was passed over the whole lawn to take off most of the length. Next, the cuttings were raked into piles, then swept up into the garden waste bin.
Now the lawn was short enough for the mower it was time to mow mow mow mow-mow... until boom bang-a-bang! Sean tried to restart the lawnmower but it made a worryingly weak Jemini-esque noise. In stepped Mr E. to remove the culprit: a hard rock (hallelujah). And just like that, it was brought back to life, like a phoenix (Wurst pun yet?).
Afterwards, Sean neatened the borders with the strimmer, collected the trimmings, and put the equipment back in storage.
Mr. E was satisfied with what he saw and thanked Sean for his efforts. Douze points goes to... GoodGym!
