On a Sunday were the weather was so changeable it was a great to see such good numbers at the mission, it was quite a lengthy run but worth it. The task at hand was to strip some turf and prepare the ground ready to plant some pollinators, the group was also made up of local people and families so it was a wonderful group effort.
Welcome to the group, Alison and Angharad who attended their first community mission and goodgym run in Cardiff.
We had a quick brief from our organisers 'Dinas Powys Wild about Nature' they are a wonderful group who have the aim of trying to help nature thrive by learning how they can make Dinas Powys as wildlife friendly as possible. Last time we had run to them was during January when they were transforming some space up at the local train station.
We said a quick hello to each other and then got to work, to begin we had to remove the grass with our spades. Some were on turf turning duty whilst others collected the sod and moved it, the final group were busy squirreling the grass in whatever space they could find. Once the grass was gone we all stood back as Mr. Rotavator took over and worked his magic on the patch of soil, turning it and loosening it up. After our break it was time to get back in and do some raking, then we marked out squares. Everyone took to their square and begin sewing the seeds and we were done!

Nice report. It is what St David would have wanted!
From Angela with Wild About Nature: "Once again please pass on our appreciation to your members who helped us today with our planting for pollinators project. They are so enthusiastic and probably doubled the amount of work we were able to do this afternoon. We did have more support from the community today too and the residents were really pleased with what we managed to achieve. Looking forward to seeing the results."
Thanks everyone, had a great time:)
