Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Gosia Rybacka
Today, Sarah and Gosia visited Ms E. in Wandsworth to help in dealing with some troublesome plants in her back garden. There were mainly weeds (!) that needed pulling up and plants that waited to get a nice trim.
Right after the arrival, we both agreed that ‘it’s quite a task to do!’. The garden looked neglected and the ground was all covered with a thick carpet of weeds. There was a bit of challenge added to this as well because we didn’t have any gardening tools so - eventually - relied on one trowel (kudos for Sarah for bringing this hero along!) and two pairs of own gloves (as befits the fashion taste of many GG girls – they were both in colour pink).
We quickly sprung into action. Most of the time was spent on de-weeding and tidying up a ground, enjoying a very nice chat in the meantime :). We were progressing nicely and within around one hour and a half, we got rid of the majority of pesky weeds, making a nice space for new plants and flowers. It would be even better if we have had a small rake though to get rid of all remained small leaves and roots; it was just very difficult to collect them all using just our hands. As a ‘cherry on the cake’ Sarah gave a nice trim for few plants that were leaning on the garden path.
Ms E. thanked us for the work done and offered us a cup of coffee before we head off. We left tired but really happy that we were able to make this cloudy day a bit brighter for Ms E.
