Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Nick Moore
This was my first GoodGym mission, so I get the privilege of writing today's run report.
Both of us having run from different directions under chilly clear blue skies to get to the property, Lucia and I made contact with the daughter of Mrs J who welcomed us into her elderly mother's (pleasantly warm) flat and after she'd explained what needed doing - furniture to be moved to allow a medical bed to be installed in the front room - got to work in shifting a standing lamp, chair and a sofa...but this was only the warm up as until the new medical bed arrived, we didn't know if the bed would fit in the space we'd just created...
In what felt like one of those complex spatial awareness puzzles we found ourselves frequently trapped behind items of furniture in her living room as we tried to move things around, and when the medical bed was delivered by two guys in high viz jackets, the puzzle got more complex and it became clear the sofa needed moving upstairs to ensure there was sufficient space for her bed and new chair (and the now increasing number of people...) in the front room.
After a bit of careful navigating and taking great care not to cause any damage, we managed to get the sofa upstairs into a spare room, so clearing sufficient space for the delivery men to build the bed and position the new chair.
Mrs J's daughter, who acted as co-ordinator throughout, seemed very pleased and we hope Mrs J will be too with her new living arrangements.
So blue skies and definitely not a Blue Monday for all involved in SE15 today...and of course we are hoping Mrs J will now be able to sleep soundly in her new bed.
