After not expecting many people to turn up because of the hackney half marathon the day before, there was actually a pretty strong turnout at the Arch Gallery tonight. We split into two groups with the hardiest five running all the way to Poplar and back to help with some gardening for an infirm older lady - her daughter was so chuffed with the Good Gymers she had to be held back from giving money!

The remainder of us took the short jog round to the Hollybush estate where there was a huge pile of mulch to be shifted into their new bedding garden as well as some substantial weeding. We powered through the pile and had made a significant dent before it was time to leave and we set off on the main run. With sore legs (I speak for myself) we made it to the canal just at the same time as a torrential downpour hit. Tom had a gentle long run planned followed by some stretching in Victoria park, but after a quick consensus we decided to cut the run short and head straight back to the gallery where Tom showed us some effective stretches for sore muscles.

Another great session. And congratulations to everyone who ran yesterday!

5 Goodgym runners took up the challenge of a longer run of 8k and headed off to Poplar to help clear an overgrown garden. However on arrival, there was some puzzlement as it was probably the least overgrown garden we'd ever seen. Nevertheless, with uncharacteristic meticulousness we went about weeding, raking up grass cuttings and transplanting a plant into the ground, making sure not to do more harm than good! However our efforts seemed to be very much appreciated and the grateful host even offered to write a cheque to Goodgym for the help.
