Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Nick Moore
It was a damp Sunday evening that greeted Sam and I when we met up at Ms Ps ready to do some wardrobe moving and any other tasks that Ms P needed help with as she continues in her quest to pack up her flat.
Our first task was to move 3 large wardrobes from one bedroom to the next, fortunately on the same level, and (as we discovered) they had wheels - both of us may have let out small whoop of delight at this discovery...On top of each wardrobe were free standing small cabinets that proved a little awkward to manoeuvre due to the height and needed removing first.
Ms P also asked if I could take a look at a broken drawer which she'd attempted to glue, but hadn't stuck - armed with some small nails and trusty hammer, I was able to perform some first aid, and (to my relief) it slid back into the cupboard.
Our next task was to move all the pieces of the large wardrobe that Anne and I had dismantled for Ms P a couple of weeks ago - we quickly worked out the most efficient way (to avoid both of us climbing up and down the two flights of stairs), was to bring down the pieces in relay to the landing and then down to the lobby - Ms P then showed us how to get to the garage - and off we went with pieces in hand in the now drizzling rain. It proved a little slippery under foot, which required extra caution, especially when carrying the mirror...
Finally, and after swapping a broken hoover for a working floor cleaner from a small cupboard on the ground floor, Ms P asked if we still had time and then showed us another garage in which she was storing her boxes of possessions and with arms full we managed three trips before the clock finally ran down to zero on this task.
Certainly more to be done for Ms P, so hopefully a further mission can be set up to give her some much needed additional assistance.
