On Monday evening, thirteen brave souls ventured into the unknown... Mile End Cemetery Park. After a quick warm-up run - and we were warm after being told to wear long sleeves - we met the park ranger for our first visit to the Park. We headed over to a heavily overgrown area of the park where we were educated in the correct technique for removing a stinging nettle. Who knew it was so complex?
We started in earnest with the end nowhere near in sight! You have never seen so many stinging nettles. After a couple of curses and stings to wrists, knees and fingers alike, the area looked improved - although this is a definite on-going project! A quick run back through Mile End Park ended in yet more pain as Tom decided that, due to being slightly late, we should do some reps, including tricep dips, press-ups, squats and sprints. Thanks Tom.
Hopefully the start of a long partnership with the Park, we look forward to returning with our newly-learned techniques at the ready to continue to help their efforts in keeping the park in tip-top shape.
Until next time, keep running!
