Nine GoodGym runners turned out to make our biggest ever Gwent League Cross Country team on Saturday at Chepstow racecourse! No sign of race horses today as the racecourse was taken over by hundreds of runners tackling a surprisingly un-muddy course. With the weekend storms predicted and the wind already starting to pick up, we were all a bit apprehensive about the headwind on the long (and uphill) finishing stretch...

Our women's team made up of Lucy, Ellen, Clo, Alice, Julie and Lisa set off first, and the sun shone on us as we made our way around the 6km course. The clouds started to roll in by the start of the men's race, as Gary, Nathan and Richard set off on the 9km men's race. Superb running by everyone, and hopefully Alice enjoyed her first cross country race! And that long slog up to the finish wasn't so bad, really...!

All good races should finish with cake and this was no exception, especially since it was Gary's birthday, so we all returned to the team tent and stuffed our faces with cakey goodness before heading home.

Extra shout out to Clo who ran Forest of Dean parkrun in the morning, and to Richard who headed straight off to a 10k night race - a double racing day for these two!!
