No spanners in the works (or house)
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Southwark.
- Tuesday, 8th of February 2022
Emma and I met Mrs R's daughter, Ms A, to help dismantle a bed to make way for a hospital bed.
Ms A was lovely and chatted away as soon as we got in. She was in the process of redecorating and had got some tools out ready for us!
We made short work of moving the mattress upstairs. The harder job was taking apart the very sturdy M&S bed. Ms A had put it together herself and must have used super strength on the screws, as we struggled to remove them. Ms A went on a hunt for spanners while Emma and I did our best with what we had to hand.
There were no spanners to be found. However, with some elbow grease, concentration and a LOT of determination, we slowly inched the screws out. There was much joy and celebration when Emma finally extracted the final one.
We left A with a dismantled bed and hopefully a bit more room to get her mum home.
