Nothing We Can't (Fork) Handle
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Hackney.
- Saturday, 22nd of June 2019
Anne and Rebecca decided to make the most of the longest day of the year by getting up early for an 8am mission start.
Miss S' garden had been taken over by weeds she is unable to rid of herself. Weeds in the cracks of her slabs had created a trip hazard, whilst the back of the garden was unusable due to thick brambles.
The first task of the day was to pull out all the weeds from the slabs (and taking up bugs at the same time!) Then Rebecca grabbed the fork and out to work digging out the deep roots of the weeds growing in Miss S' flower beds. Meanwhile Anne took to cutting a pathway into the back of the garden and removing the dangerous brambles.
After two hours, several mounds of weeds bagged up and the pavement swept, the pair admitted defeat. Whilst the garden was not completely devoid of weeds, Miss S now had a larger, safer space to enjoy the sunny day in.
