Report written by Barnet runner
Nine natty GGers ran 3.5km to clean up the offices at Mencap in Brent.
Meeting at the Queensbury, we quickly warmed up and set off with Pete backmarking. It was a weirdly muggy day with very grey skies but we made the best of it and had a good chat on the way over.
Arriving at the Mencap office, we were welcomed by Ann who explained that their building often gets used by other groups and charities and leaves the place quite messy at times - especially where the cleaner doesn't have time to get to. We divided into two teams: Uthman, Danny and Tabitha worked outside brushing the entrance alley, walls (!), bin and signs, while everyone else focused in the main room. The walls needed cleaning, blue tac removing, along with nails and staples from the walls.
We managed to find a radio and get some music on and got to work. We made quick work and blackend several clothes and sponges. The was particularly true outside, where it didn't look like a cleaner had ever ventured. Ann was delighted with our efforts and explained it's important for them as renting their space to external businesses and groups is a key source of income.
We said our goodbyes and set off, stopping halfway back for a customary fitness session. We got back to the Queensbury in good time for stretches and high fives. Pritesh will be back next week: I'll see you all soon I hope!
