GoodGymers from York and Leeds came together to help build a new footpath.

Along the lovely River Wharfe in Boston Spa, TCV have been working to build a new, accessible trail along what was previously a muddy track.

When finished, the new trail will provide wheelchair (and dry, clean feet) access to the weir, a beautiful spot to visit.

We were tasked with the most physically demanding part of the task, filling wheelbarrows full of stone, wheeling them a few hundred metres down a muddy, slippery trail, emptying them onto the new trail and taking the wheelbarrows back up the hill again.

Despite the wheelbarrows being heavy, everyone enjoyed taking them down the hill assisted by gravity, though it was a fine line between going quickly and staying in control!

Katie was in charge of raking out all the dumped stone and she created the flattest, neatest stoney trail you have ever seen.

After about an hour and a half, we had cleared all the stone, including all the chunky bits.. and we had very tired arms.
