By the time I arrived at Ms A’s the morning had already got off to a good start, thanks to a neighbour who unexpectedly left me a gift.

Ms A was pleased to see me and within minutes it was clear this was going to be more than just a practical mission. The first half an hour was spent chatting about Ms A’s life and travels. It was one of those meetings that don’t happen all that often, where you come away feeling like you’ve known each other for years and yet you’ve just met.

Conversation flowed as we got to work sorting through Ms A’s spare room. Ms A had found it overwhelming at first, sorting through her husband’s things, but working through the boxes today we got into an easy rhythm of sorting through old letters photos and keepsakes. After we’d bagged up the things Ms A was ready to let go of we moved onto her balcony. It was a glorious sunny morning for cleaning windows and soon the glass was buffed and clear for Ms A to see her plants again.

After a quick tidy up we said our goodbyes. As I was heading home, stopping by a market stall the stall trader asked me about GoodGym, he’d seen the red tops around and wondered where the gym was. This must be the single most asked question about GG! He insisted I took some flowers so they were passed on to the neighbour who’d left the gifts. One good deed definitely deserves another.
