14 brave GoodGymmers braved the muggy conditions and kept it cool with a 9k run to volunteer at Friary Park.

The group met at the Phoenix as usual where Damian very kindly, or perhaps foolishly, allowed the guest trainer Euclides from GG Haringey to lead the intro and a quick warm up session before setting off for an education on running in humid conditions.

After a very hot 4.5 run through Barnet we arrived at Friary Park where we were very grateful to be welcomed with plenty of fresh water by Richard and other volunteers from Friends of Priary Park.

Richard wasted no time in setting us to work and were divided into four groups - 3 collecting litter around the grounds, whilst the other team helped with some weeding around the pavilion.

After about 30 minutes of hard work, we had filled up a good four bags of waste and the park looked spotless, if we say so ourselves.

After a quick re-hydration stop, we took our selfies and bid farewell to Friary Park for the day.

In lieu of a fitness session, our sweaty GoodGymmers used the run back to the Phoenix as a speedy run which under the very humid conditions did just the trick!

Thanks very much for looking after me and you're all welcome to come and visit me in Haringey on Wedneday eve!

Next week business as usual with Damian back at the helm for a 2k run to a local school for some footpath clearing action.

Peace!
