It wasn't so much April showers last night, as April hail storms and even some flipping snow, but that didn't stop 11 community heroes getting down to business at Turnham Green!

Well done to Matt and to Eloise who both earned themselves some shiny new PBs at parkrun on Saturday - great work!

Don't forget that the monthly GoodGym social is tonight - from 6:30 at The Court in Camden. It's also Camden's birthday, so it's going to be a good one! Sign up here for all the details.

Luckily we had a break from the rain, as our task was an outside one, so we knocked out a quick warm up and had A Very Important Discussion about cheese. Unlike most weeks, where our poll produces long debates, we were all very decisive last night about our cheese requirements. So, with that cleared up, we jogged over the road to Turnham Green to meet Jan who was waiting for us with tools and a list of jobs.

Turnham Green is kept beautiful by a group of volunteers, including Jan, but it's a huge space to cover. The first job was to dig up some large and pesky weeds and then fork over the ground, while another group got stuck into sorting a very overgrown area. Meanwhile, as recent high winds had brought down a lot of twigs and branches, we collected them up and bagged them.

What a difference a week makes! While last Wednesday we were running in the dark, last night we could work later thanks to the light - but there did seem to be a tiny element of making the tasks last to avoid a super long fitness session!

After returning to the tools to Jan, we warmed ourselves back up with a few games of Clusters and Fish and Chips, which saw some very tactical strategies... Then on to the tough work - the beep test. This is really tough but excellent speed work as the body doesn't have a chance to recover in between sprints. Brilliantly everybody flew past the level required by the police force, which proves just how fit you all are - great work. After running over a mile in sprints, we moved onto a minute's plank, and then jogged gently back to the Town Hall for some well-earned stretching. Fantastic work gang - not only did you clear a huge area and really benefited the public at Turnham Green, you smashed an intense workout too. That's what Wednesday nights are all about! Next week we have a new task, so sign up here for all the details. Until then, run happy!
