Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Kate Bowden
Last night 10 good gymers ran 2km to help the Friends of Park Hill paint a peace pole for the unity garden.
We met at Solutions and began with a gentle warm up. A big shout out to Paul and Ian who were stretching out their legs after completing a very wet Croydon 10k Road Race on Sunday! It was then a short gentle run over to Park Hill, where we were very glad to have our head torches as the park was pitch black giving it a very spooky feel so close to Halloween! With our head torches on full beam, we made it to meet up with Josi from the Friends of Park Hill who took us into the rangers station which was toasty and warm.
Last week's group run task Let's get together and give Peace a chance had started the painting of one side of the peace pole but there were still three more sides to cover with pattern and design. Thankfully we had many eager hands! Josi had some templates of birds and butterfly's but we also went free style adding a rainbow, bees and snails which we often see on our tasks, little running feet, a smiley face and of course our Good Gym logo! There is even a hat hidden away for park users to find... In any empty gaps (there aren't many!) Josi will add the words we have chosen of Community Inspire Unity.
With the pole looking fantastic, we left it to dry and headed out into the park to run back to solutions. This ended up a faster run than our normal pace and we were all very warm again by the time we arrived back.
Join us next week when we will be helping out at Tunstall Nursery.
