Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Julian Osman
Sunday saw the return, after a month absence, of the Woolwich common litter pick and unlike many picks this year we met the organisers, Friends of Woolwich Common, in glorious sunshine. So we set off in search of trash and, whilst the first 20 minutes or so saw very little little litter to pick, we soon came across a couple of hot spots and our bags were soon full. As ever with the finds boggle the mind as among the usual beer cans and crisp packets were multiple items of clothing that one would think the owner would notice that they'd lost. Bags full, we made our way back noticing on the way an abundance of nearly ripe blackberries, offering the promise of far more pleasant picking experiences on the common in the coming weeks.
We are a group of volunteers seeking to protect, preserve and campaign for Woolwich Common, a large green space in the Royal Borough in Greenwich, London.
