Report written by Tabitha Skinner
Five of us met on a scorching bank Holiday Monday and braved the heat to help out at Harlesden Town Gardens. Most of us were sweating before we started running so after our welcome we warmed up quickly before heading off. Beth had completed a 10 mile run the day before (congratulations!) so we all agreed to take the run at a steady pace. I led while Claire took the rear and in no time at all we were in Roundwood Park where we stopped to pose with our I am Team GB sports day Banner. We were doing our bit to keep moving as part of the Nation's biggest sports day.
After the final run up a hill we arrived and were welcomed by Gabriel and Philip, who were especially pleased to see us as they almost didn't believe that we would be out doing good on a Bank Holiday. With the tunes of Harlesden's breakout carnival playing in the background we set to work.
We paired up and completed both of these in no time at all. The squatting and lifting was almost enough fitness for us, but not one to miss a fitness (photo) opportunity Karen also Planked by our newly moved pile of Planks.
With the wood successfully moved, we headed to the corner of Doom where a huge pile of branches was waiting to be chopped up and added to the compost pile. Samina gave it her best shot at manoeuvring the wheelbarrow full of branches through the gate, and then we chopped away.
With all tasks complete we stopped for a final photo with the scarecrow and Claire led the way back to the Queensbury. After a cool down a few of us managed to find the last remaining table to stay for a well deserved drink. Happy running! Tabitha
