We live in cities our entire lives but honestly, do we ever get to explore where everything is? All the side streets, the dead ends, the stairwells? How to get from point A to point B as easy and as quickly as we can or in a way that allows us to train on route to our destination?

On the agenda today we had to make our way down to Churchill Gardens Youth Centre in Pimlico to asses some work that we will be doing in the coming weeks.

I think some may have thought that would get away with an easy session tonight. NO, NO, NO and NO again. I had a plan and I couldn’t wait for all those in attendance to embrace it.

Out the door bang on 630pm and strait into a warm up on the island so everyone could see us in our BRIGHT RED Good Gym Tees, some applause, a little bit of banter, lots of laughter and we were on our way.

Into Green Park, Into St James Park, out into Victoria and into Pimlico…. Now we were nice and warm it was time for the exercises to begin.

Flights of stair are like hills, great for speed, great for technique and great for sapping the energy out of our legs. What were we planning on doing? Charging up 15 flights of them with high knees and quiet feet. Why? Just so we could admire the view. By around floor 8 or 10 I think we were all knakered but we carried on. When we got to the top we all just stood and looked at this beautiful city we call home…..

A few deep breaths and off we went, full pelt down the steps and into Churchill Gardens Youth Centre where we were fed and watered and shown the area that they would like us to paint. They gave us a small talk on what the youth centre does and what the young people get out of it and we were on our way.

Intervals along the embankment, a quick hello to everyone at Westminster Boating Base and more lamppost intervals along the back streets till we arrived at Westminster Abbey.

Are you alright I said. A big yes, are we tired, a big NO… great, lets go…..

Strait through a pitch black St James Park and a steady jog back to base…

A nice long deep stretch and a thankyou to everyone who came….

Not many people get an opportunity to run with people they have never met before and come out the other end smiling, happy, feeling like they have accomplished something. Today we ran just shy of 10k and one of our ladies has only ever run that far once before. We are here to do good and part of that good is helping you reach your goals…

Continue to do small things with great love people…..

See you next week
