Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Chelmsford runner
This week we started off with seven runners that quickly turned into eight as we bumped into Anton on the way to the park. Bang went my pun about the 'Magnificent Seven'!
Prior to meeting Anton we discussed any news for this week and James proudly informed us that he had done his very first 10 mile run down in Folkestone on the last bank holiday, well done James. Next up in June is his first Half Marathon, go James!
Our task this week was to make the honeymooners (Joel & Rachel) return home a litter free walk to the park for them, as much as it sounds a good deed to do it's just a coincidence that our litter pick happened to be where they live!
The walk from the park to the railway station has a long privet hedge that has accumulated a lot of litter and chatting to the park staff they said it was a difficult area for them to get cleared up. No problem, Goodgym are here to get it done.
James wandered off to clear the open area near the road, Adam and Russell dived into the bushes! Kate and Anton were quickly gathering lots of litter so was Julie and Catherine, we filled quite a lot of bags and placed them back at the park keepers depot.
Now the fun fitness session on a lovely warm evening, this week it was a Pyramid session.
It was a 1-2-3-2-1 minute run at 5k pace with a minutes rest in-between. Russell, Anton and Adam set off quickly, followed by Kate and James with Julie and Catherine. A pyramid session is a speed workout designed to give you an increasing and decreasing series of reps which can be distance or in this case time based. It helps to avoid running boredom by giving variety to your workout.
That's the theory and most of the group seemed to enjoy it! Well done everyone.
A reminder that our local race "Baddow 10 mile" is this month! You can still sign up for it, lots of us will be running!
