7 sweaty sprinters ran 4km each way to Broomfield Hospital to plant some hedges
I arrived nice and early to ARU this week and one by one everyone showed up having run there (ssshhh Jenny)! Did they not know we had a cheeky 8km run to come! Joel was the last to arrive and we ran through the briefing of the task. While we waited for the GPS on our watches to kick in (and not needing a warm-up due to the premier athletes we are running there) Gerry showed off to everyone his impressive pull-up abilities while James made it look even easier.
We ran there in impressive time, not even stopping for breath on the way. Everyone seemed on form this evening and we met Richard at Broomfield sunken garden nice and early. Good job we had too, he had laid out all the plants ready to be planted and there were around 100 to do! After a quick demonstration, we DUG in. Ensuring that they were the precise 33cm apart we flew through them and the four bigger bushes too. I can't believe the change since when we started going and planting is definitely our strong suit! They are due to receive the metalwork on Friday and then it'll be almost complete. If you can't wait to see what it looks like with the metalwork complete then please join myself and Laurie on Monday at 10:00-15:00 at the sunken garden where we will be planting with some other people who have helped over the month. After an impressive balancing act from Rachel and Jenny we headed off back, slightly slower than the way there! Alas the group decided against a bollard sprint race between two teams so we made do with a gentle glide back.
Thanks for coming and happy running! See you next time when there are rumours of timed sprints up and down Broomfield avenues!
