Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
12 people braved heavy downpours to run 4k and help out at Stepney City Farm
With Tom off gallivanting around the US, we had a new run leader in Tower Hamlets......it was me- Shaun, of Camden. Well, leader is slightly disingenuous, as Andy lead the pack for the majority of the evening, but I was there to hand out the register and be in general nuisance throughout the evening.
Down on the farm
We headed to regular Tower Hamlets haunt Stepney City Farm to help Katherine with a few important tasks around the park. We weren't in with the goats and pigs this week- they were taking cover from the rain, but we did have a few important jobs to get finished. One team were sent to the compost area and told to get turning, while the rest of us headed to the beds at the front of the farm to start weeding and spreading mulch around the beds. Weeding in the rain doesn't sound like much of a way to spend a Monday evening, but the wet ground lent made the task much easier. We cleared an area roughly the size of 2 transit vans in 30mins. It would have taken her ages to get it done without us.
All downhill for here
On the way home we headed to Mile End park and stopped mid way to run a few short sharp hills. We focused on technique while running up and down the inclines. Running down is a real skill and can make all the difference- if you tackle them incorrectly its a real pain in the quads! We cut loose- leaning down the hills and dramatically increasing our cadence. Nice work. We finished the evening with a nice run home along the canal- though I did manage to trip over a post and face plant into a big puddle... I deserved it
