Raking and Entering
4 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Bristol.
- Sunday, 30th of July 2017
When 3 mission extraordinaires plus myself arrived at Mr E's house we experienced a big issue... We couldn't get into the garden as there was a cat blocking our way who didn't want us to destroy his wilderness haven. Sorry John cat we need to get out. Phew after a little persuasion he freed us from the kitchen.
The garden was quite overgrown but we didn't let this scare us. We had amazingly strong post bags (which we need for every bramble tasks) but we needed tools.. There are more tools in the shed Mr E informed us but the shed lock seemed to be jammed shut. Dave ingeniously managed to take the lock off and we were able to start.
Paul exclaimed "I must save it before it's too late", we all gasped wondering what it was. He had discovered a wheelbarrow that the garden had tried to enslave but luckily it was recovered by the wheelbarrow king! Meanwhile Fi and Dave did an amazing job tackling the menace of brambles with super shears. I pulled as many weeds out as I could and cleared a lot of the path.
Fi made friends with a cute toad she found lost under the brambles.
9 full bags of weeds later, along with a much clearer garden and a happy Mr E and we were off. Tea and cake was calling us. What a lovely morning despite the showers.
