Raking it in with the woodland elves
9 GoodGymers made their way to help their local community in Richmond.

We arrived on foot and bike to attack the brambles in Hampton Lands. As Teresa rounded up a few people looking for the meeting point on her bike to run to the task. We got cracking on cutting through the weeds and brambles like a knife through butter...flies. There were 10 of us in total and we took it in turn to rake up the brambles, fill heavy duty bags up with what was being raked up and removing deeply set root stumps. Rob and Beth even started jumping on the spades to cut through the soil and dig them out with Rob battling with a mammoth root and winning the fight (see victorious photo attached!). We carried bag loads of brambles into a hidden woodland area so that they weren’t easy to spot for anyone wanting to create some bonfires and as the mound grew larger it looked like there could have been a giant dung beetle in the vicinity making a pile for itself! After a couple of hours clearing the area we packed up and started runs (and rides) back to Richmond, Teddington and Twickenham. Great work from everyone!
