Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Alice
This week 4 runners attended the weekly clean & restocking of OMA's base in Cowley. Previous packing groups have found trying to keep the shelves topped up, and pack the parcels hard to keep up with due to the huge numbers of people OMA are reaching (which is fantastic, and so sad, all at the same time) - but upon our arrival, they were looking fairly well stocked; so someone had been working hard between tasks!!
Following a quick stock check, we moved onto our cleaning tasks and into the kitchen, where there was plenty to do! Jessy delved into 2 massive piles of oranges, for which a significant amount had variable levels of squish (and mould), and very patiently saved the good ones, ultimately resulting in a 2 man job to empty the bins!
Sarah very kindly volunteered herself to deal with some chicken curry that needed binning (hero!) while still smiling, 'with her eyes', and creatively de-flooded a very wet freezer!
Rachel did a superb job of sweeping the main hall, which looked spotless when we left and won the unofficial competition for the best mask; it had alpacas on, and was hand made! Mask envy was real!
We received a few drop-offs from drivers and a lovely donation from a school, which was very happily added to the lovely Christmas gifts people have donated.
The hall was feeling very Christmasy, with lots of gifts to go into the parcels and even some Christmas flowers made an appearance, along with around 15 mins of Michael Buble!
Great teamwork everyone! Some impressive identification of the mystery Norwegian jam to end!
