Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Laura Williams
We arrived one by one to the Kedleston Community Centre this evening, where a workout-and-a-half awaited us: Margaret had called and asked us to take down the shed at the bottom of the garden to make way for an exciting new construction.
“No one’s been in there for 9 years, so we don’t know what you’ll find,”
Righty-ho.
Donning goggles and gloves, we headed to the bottom of the garden.
Multiple small teams were formed to start emptying the shed of pots and paint cans before another team proceeded to start the demolition.
Pots and concrete were wheeled away, while another team proceeded to dismantle three spearmint green benches, whose creaky, unstable presentation meant they too faced the crowbar-wielding GoodGymers.
The hour flew by and many full bin liners and barrows later, we posed for one final pic.
Way. To. Go.
The team did good, and Margaret was over the moon.
We dispersed into two teams: those who headed straight home, and those undertaking a brief detour via The Dundee Arms.
As for next week, we’re back to the Parkview Estate for our first visit of 2022!
Until then.
The Hollybush and Teesdale Estate Urban Growers project began in April 2009 in Rocky Park – a disused children’s play area. Now enjoyed by the whole community, the area includes seats and communal herb beds for all to use.
