Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Welcome to part 3 in our amazing series of missions to help Jayne clear her garden of Rocky-ness, this time featuring 3 Rocky veterans, and a star performance from our mission newcomer, Fiona “Clubber” Lewis! Definitely no Riff Raff here!
This is how today’s story unfolded:
Ding! Ding! - Round 1 - Deb “Rocky” Redmond and Fiona “Clubber” Lewis meet at the gym to plan their challenge and head off to the Easton ring.
Ding! Ding! - Round 2 - Rocky and Clubber meet “Paulie” Becker en route and head into the arena that is Jayne’s garden.
Ding! Ding! - Round 3 - Jayne kindly provides pre-bout refreshments and shows our prize fighters that the previous haul has been removed and a supply of bags into which they can put today’s collection of rocks.
Ding! Ding! - Round 4 - Ready to Rubble! Rocky, Clubber and Paulie get their gloves on and stuck in to the task but experience tells them this is going to go the full 12 bags and that they must pace themselves.
Ding! Ding! - Round 5 - Despite having cleared much of the garden already, it comes as no surprise that there is still much to do as more Rocky treasures are unearthed with Pick-axe, spade and fork all being put to good use.
Ding! Ding! - Round 6 - As our gladiators begin to tire, it’s time for the GoodGym tag-team to come into operation – enter Dave “Apollo” Guest into the fray to relieve the hard-working Paulie, who just has time to snap a few action shots before heading on his way to take son of Paulie to another sporting arena.
Ding! Ding! - Round 7 - Apollo finds yet more patio slabs under the surface, but undeterred our troubadours crack on!
Ding! Ding! - Round 8 - As this is round 8, Rocky announces in her best Riff Raff voice that this round “will last 8 minutes” (you had to be there :-))
Ding! Ding! - Round 9 - Having cleared out the remaining rocks, patio slabs and bricks it is now time to smooth out the soil that had been cleared to remove the rubble. Rocky and Clubber are particularly adept at this, particularly in the way they shift to the left and then a shift to the right!
Ding! Ding! - Round 10 - Job done, we invite Jayne out to view what was once a Rocky wasteland but is now virtually ready for her to start planting her garden.
Ding! Ding! - Round 11 - Rocky, Clubber and Apollo enjoy a victory run back into town, high five-ing the adoring crowd throughout the 2 mile journey (ok maybe that didn’t happen!)
Ding! Ding! - Round 12 - A feast of champions at Mud Dock – well earned and much appreciated.
Once again this was an action packed encounter and, joking aside, everyone who has been involved on this task to date should be immensely proud of what they have achieved. It has been strenuous work and a task that just keeps on giving (even when you don’t want it too!)
A big shout out to Deb, who has been involved for every single minute of each of the three missions and to Fiona for stepping up to the mission plate for the first time and getting involved in a mission that has become part of GoodGym mission folklore!
Thanks also to Paul for agreeing to be my tag-team partner today as neither of us were going to be able to make the whole session, and for taking the snaps.
I think that Jayne is genuinely chuffed at what we have achieved for her and hopefully we will be able to go back to help her get the garden looking beautiful.
Thank you so much everyone – you really are awesome! In fact YOU ROCK!!!

Dave, that's an outstanding mission report that genuinely had me laughing. Thank you muchly for your run leader skills, your hard graft, your company and keyboard talent. Good job !!! You too Paul. For me, one of the very best things to have happened in 2016 was joining GoodGym and meeting a whole host of awesome people.
