Gwyn and Tracey are getting themselves a bit of a reputation for turning up at GoodGym events involving food; fish and chips at the Rothley 10k, an excellent curry at the Hadhari Project, and several meals-on-wheels sessions supporting the Derby West Indian Community Association's Covid Kitchen. Well, today's session was no exception.

We were invited to the official opening of St Philip's Church Community Cafe. This was not only an opportunity to enjoy some delicious food, but to spread the good news about what GoodGym has to offer the local community. We spoke to people from Derby Homes, Derby Council, GirlGuiding and the CoOp, and enjoyed seeing the bishop running up and down the red carpet!

We would also like to spread good news in the opposite direction - telling GoodGym members what delights will be available at the cafe. These will be starting up in January 2021 - keep an eye on their website for full details, but will include sessions supporting men's health, those suffering from grief, women going through menopause, and friendly craft sessions. A warm welcome is guaranteed, so please come along and join the fun. From 10th January onwards, the cafe will be open to all on Wednesdays 11:00-13:00 and Thursdays 10:30-12:20.

Last, but by no means least, sincere thanks were passed on from the warden at St Philip's to the GoodGym team who have worked hard helping to get the church and garden ready for the opening. So a BIG BIG thank you to Ashley, Pete, Gwyn and Tracey for their valued contribution at three previous sessions (one, two, three!)

Looking to the future, there is an aim to tidy up the porch area of the church and to create an outdoor seating space (this will have to be pigeon-proof!). Watch out for future community missions which will be listed here when they're arranged.
