On a rather dark and autumnal September evening, seven runners Andrew, Ellen, Emma, Marie, Nic, Sophie and Martin, set off to help clear some paths at Riverside Community Garden, ready for reopening. There was a little confusion about time and location, but we all got there in the end.

We were met by Isla from Grow Cardiff, who explained the task of clearing the paths of overgrown grass. It is very important apparently to remove the roots, otherwise the grass just grows back. Everyone worked really hard to get the task completed before the light faded. After about an hour digging and weeding, we were finished.

There was still a little time to look around the allotment and were told to help ourselves to some tomatoes. Marie unwittingly helped herself to some fruit from a neighbouring allotment, not realising it was not run by the people we were helping 

After posing for our group photo we made our way home.
