4 GoodGymers made their way to help the Birmingham Central Foodbank in Birmingham.
- Monday, 6th of April 2020
- Led by Birmingham runner
There were 6 of us volunteering at Birmingham Central Foodbank for today's session, with 4 of us from GoodGym and 2 from the foodbank itself.
Today was Benjamin's first GoodGym event/mission and it was great to welcome him - give him a cheer! Ben said that he had seen us all outside our usual meeting place of 1000 trades and was keen to get involved. Hopefully it won't be too long before we can reconvene there for Group runs. In the interim, everyone has done a great job of inspiring and motivating others to keep active by themselves.
As with the previous two weeks, we worked in the larger room and wore gloves to help keep safe .
Tonight, all of the weighing had been done prior to our arrival and this meant that we could all crack on with sorting through and dating the donations. Tousif, Ben and David also ensured that we had a steady flow of donations to sort through by bringing them through, when needed, from the storage room.
Everyone worked safely and efficiently and we were able to make our way through a good chunk of these donations, with today's pun being inspired from donations of soup.
The foobank does a fantastic job in providing vital supplies to those in need and it is great that we are able to help out, especially in the current circumstances.
Tousif took some photos of us in action and there was time to take a 'group' photo at the end, posing around some donated goods whilst ensuring that this was at a safe distance from one another.
