Report written by Anji Andrews (she/her)
After 4.5 years of GoodGym Newcastle its rare that we get a completely unique task and tonight that's what we got!
8 GoodGymers including Kaz who was along for her very first group run gathered for some Monday Goodness at Stepney Bank Stables and Paul with very tired legs was delighted to find nobody wanted to run tonight!
After a catch up on a busy weekend and an even busier week ahead, we headed down to the stables right at our base Stepney Bank where task owner Sara had tasked us with tack cleaning- something new and would turn out to be very therapeutic! Each horse has its own tack to clean and they range from glitzy to patterned to pretty plain.
Sara showed us how to clean them carefully using warm water and saddle soap and we got to the task in pairs. This is a job that needs to be done regularly as the horses are in action every day at this brilliant community stables. It was a really satisfying task that will make a difference in saving time for the task and volunteers at Stepney Bank.
We headed back upstairs to our base room for a Pilates, breathing and relaxation session (check out Charlotte's great photos of this!) before going across to Arch2 for a Monday social to celebrate my 200th good deed. Big thanks to Louise for bringing Grasmere gingerbread (yum!) and to Lucy for bringing her dog Milo afterwards to give me some kisses.
Loads going on this week, hope to see you soon!
