Mrs M took a bit of time getting to her front door this morning as her knee and foot were giving her a lot of pain - it was the first time that she'd mentioned that she'd originally been due to have an operation on her knee on March 20th but it got cancelled because of Covid and since then she's been reluctant to visit the hospital, even though they've been calling her to reschedule an appointment and it's clearly getting worse. Again, if ever there was a conversation to keep things in perspective this was probably it.

Her list though was, as per previous weeks, a neatly drawn up collection of summer fruits (pineapple, banana, strawberries (on special 2 for £3 offer...)), household goods and store cupboard essentials - but for once the shelves of Tesco let me down with no sign of Almond Milk. Not to be deterred (as it is her husband's favourite drink), I stopped off at her local corner shop on the way back, but no luck there either - it seemed the Almond Cows had gone on holiday (hopefully not to Spain).

A final option was the Waitrose inside Kings Cross station, and after navigating the one way system to get in, I hit gold in there and returned to Mrs M with her completed list. We had another good chat about the challenges of life and everything else, and then I nearly walked off with her change in my pocket - running back up the stairs to hand it over just in time, but feeling guilty that I'd made her shuffle once more to her front door - hopefully the almond milk made up for it...
