Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Aislin Mageean
On a sunny Saturday morning Ruth and I met Mrs C and her granddaughter who asked us to clear some of the weeds and overgrown plants in her garden as she is no longer mobile enough to do it herself. After a hunt for some tools we located some shears, and got to work on the part of the garden just outside the door so that Mrs C has easier access to her garden.
Accompanied by some nearby samba music, we cleared weeds and cut down lots of a hop-like plant that had taken hold down the sides of the garden. Ruth managed to scrape some of the moss (with her hands!) that was making the ground very slippy, and we also cleared some of the weeds towards the back of the garden. Two bags of weeds later, the garden looked a lot clearer, although still work to be done once there are a few more tools available to scrape off the moss and cut down the large overgrown plants at the back of the garden.
