Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
25 runners ran 6k and pedalled bikes to produce approx. 3,600w of power
This was no ordinary night at GoodGym. We ran en masse through East London, the early Autumn evening slightly crisper than last week, to the Artizan Street Library and Community Centre. Not a spade or shovel in sight, this was a new experience for the most of us- we were to generate energy by pedalling on stationary bicycles linked to car batteries.
"Keep the kilowatts climbing"
The set up was organised by the forward-thinking business Pedal Power with the aim of getting a play in West London running completely off bike-produced energy. The machines themselves were retro in appearance but approached with enthusiasm by the GG team, and in threes we pushed as hard as we could to keep the kilowatts climbing. One group pedalled with such force the bike stopped functioning, while another race got the crowd pretty rowdy and we were subsequently told to quieten down by a friendly staff member!
"Fresh approach"
We split into two groups for a pleasant run back. An energy efficient, unusual work-out meant smiles and giggling all round. Looking forward to telling others about this fresh approach to exercise and getting on my (moving) bike next week to the Arch Gallery for another fun GoodGym session.
