There were clouds of breath in the air and frost on the ground as Harvey, Kash and Sevan rolled up for this week's volunteering session at Pitshanger Junior parkrun. It felt like the start of winter 🥶

Unwitting children had been lured out of their beds and to the park by well meaning parents who'd promised them a fun run around. Some had come prepared with mittens and woolly hats, while other were braving it out in shorts and t-shirts, despite the below freezing temperatures.

53 children completed the course, some with red noses and rosy cheeks. A few of them went on strike part way around, feeling that it was too cold to continue, ignoring the advice of their parents and Sevan, who was marshalling

"If you run, your body will warm up" - Parent

"Yup! It'll get the blood pumping" - Sevan

Sniffle - Runner

For those who made it to the finish line, Harvey was dealing out the finish tokens and Kash was scanning barcodes to record the runners' times. At least she was until a runner with no finish token showed up and blocked her from doing anything else.

We'll be back at Pitshanger Junior parkrun on the 17th of December for their 399th event!
