Despite a little confusion over the exact start location Isabelle, Kapil and I met arrived at the start line of the Mile End junior parkrun course right on time to be met by the volunteer team and get briefed for our various roles.

Kapil and Isabelle were tasked with being magnificent marshals so headed off for their marshal briefing whilst I was tasked with the warm up leader role.

Having never been warm up leader before I was delighted to be joined by the magnificent Molly and the exceptional Esme (both regular Mile End junior parkrunners) as we collectively took the young runners through a variety of exciting warm up moves such as the gorilla stomp, the sun jump and swimming whilst jogging on the spot.

As the junior parkrunners set off for their 2-lap course, Kapil and Isabelle were stationed on the course keeping an eye out for all the runners and walkers but most importantly offering them keen words of encouragement as they tackled the fun 2km route. It was inspiring to see so many of them with BIG smiles on their faces as they made their way around - surely some future GoodGymers amongst them!

Much fun was had by all, especially us volunteering, and the Mile End junior parkrun team were very keen to sign us up for events in the following weeks. We are due to be there the next couple of weeks so please come and join us make this very special event fantastic:
