So bar, so good
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Camden.
- Sunday, 4th of August 2024
Miss K knew the current state of her garden only from the photos her son, Mr T, was sharing with her. The lady could not walk, and her wheelchair stood no chance against a step that separated her living room from the garden. Miss K's referrer was working on acquiring a ramp from the Council, which would remove the barrier between Miss K and the backyard. Meanwhile, Mr T was transforming the garden for his mum to enjoy in the future. Unfortunately, working a six-day week, he couldn't do everything himself.
Sevan and Kash visited Miss K on a Sunday afternoon and planted a staghorn sumac plant Mr T had left in the garden. They cut the vines climbing on the fence from the neighbours' and removed some sneaky ivy, growing in between the brick wall. A gorilla bar was a perfect weapon against the dead ivy trunks. Sevan and Kash wished they carried one of those tools to all their GoodGym tasks - or better not?
Having completed the priority tasks, the GoodGymers spent some time weeding the flower beds. The soil was pretty dry and that job was rather slow going. After filling a large waste bag with small weeds collected from the bed, Sevan and Kash showed Miss K the pictures of her garden with the sumac planted and the fence cleared of climbing plants. Fingers crossed Miss K will be able to get the ramp to access her garden and enjoy it on such a summer day like this.
