Report written by Luton runner
A Goodgym A-team, Dani and Ruth were on hand to assist the Luton Food Cycle project this Tuesday evening. The volunteer team has become a cohesive and connected workforce but there are always shortages and gaps in the roster to fill. So if you are thinking of volunteering here you're bound to be made very welcome.
Despite the ominous rumbling of thunder and a heavy downpour towards opening time at 6pm, we welcomed around 20 diners. The tables were busy with lively chat and the social aspect of the community meal came to the fore.
Soup to start as is usually the case, and what better way to warm up on a rainy day ? Followed by rice with an assortment of healthy veggies. Cakes various for those who still had room, or to takeaway.
FoodCycle use food that would otherwise go to waste and put on a free social dinner for anyone who wants to come along, whether hungry or lonely, they welcome everyone to come for dinner and meet other people
