Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Lizzie Kershaw
7 GG Yorkies met on Bishopthorpe Road to help The Great South Bank Re:Cycle. Our mission was to provide a courier service, and promote the event, achieved by making ourselves very visible on the main road with our flag and a few exercises led by our ever cheerful and enthusiastic trainer Egg. We also visited all the homes taking part, to let them know that we were available to transport heavy items to their new home.
To transform this mission into a suitable workout, we split into groups and ran out to one road at a time. The lovely residents of South Bank were very welcoming, with balloons and cheery smiles. Barbara and Nicola covered over 7km!!
We had a delivery request from Bishy Road to the Community Centre at the Crescent (behind our group run meeting venue of Premier Inn on Blossom Street). The team there were very excited to receive a 3D Star Wars posters, delivered by Lizzie and Huw on behalf of "Mum", although we weren't quite sure who "Mum" was, they seemed confident that she was Alex's Mum.
This is awesome!!! - The Community Centre crew
As our mission drew to an end, the sun departed and the skies opened. We tried desperately to shelter under a tree, but soon were soaked through.
This tree is rubbish! - Egg
Even coffee couldn't keep us warm, although Huw's amazing flapjacks definitely helped! We gave each other a hearty pat on the back, and headed home for hot baths all round.
