Despite a few ominous clouds, Andy and Alicia ran to GoodGym's third mission to help Cheryl get her garden ready for summer. The previous GoodGym-ers had done an impressive job of clearing several areas - our task was to remove any weeds that had crept back, and start sorting out the other areas still needing some work!

Cheryl was on hand with an extensive selection of tools (including a gadget for removing weeds that we never figured out how to use), a constant supply of black bin bags, and helpful advice on which plants to take out and which to leave. Alicia quickly got stuck in to clearing the weeds growing around the shed (although 'bushes' might be a more accurate description!), and moving a pile of bricks that the local wildlife had been using as a step to get into her shed.

Meanwhile, Andy got to work, clearing away an assortment of weeds, including discoving the missing strawbury plants hadn't been eaten - just covered up by weeds! Andy also hammered in wooden edging to stop the path's gravel overflowing into the flower bed, and had a short (but victorious) battle with an unwanted tree that had sprung up.

Despite a short burst of rain, Andy and Alicia kept on until the two areas were ready for planting Cheryl's seeds and bulbs: potatoes and spring onions in one, and potatoes, onions, beetroot and carrots in the other. Once they're ready for harvest, Cheryl won't have to buy veg for quite a while!

Having completely filled 6 black bags with weeds, we said goodbye and headed off in the now perfect running weather, leaving behind a very grateful Cheryl and a much more sorted garden.
