4 Good gym runners and a volunteer named Jean from Oasis Cardiff attended a Friday evening running session. It lasted forty minutes and involved, yes you guessed it, sprinting.

The run stared with a good dose of chatting and catching up and so it gave the impression to the newcomers that it is going to be one of the social runs. Oh no. Fridays are all about interval training that is, a repetitious mix of jogging, sprinting, and walking. The idea is to raise a heart rate and push a little bit harder.

After 1 k of jogging, Karolina and her co-runner and a volunteer from Oasis Cardiff had to break it to Michelle, Estelle and and Sophie it is a high time for sprints. It was pretty cool! It turned out that Michelle is pretty fast and goes long! She matched Jean's pace who, as a teenager, used to sprint a lot. The 3rd place went to Sophie who did amazingly well considering it was her "leg" day at a gym. Karolina and Estelle came last....

After a series of these interval sessions, off they went to finish off a Friday run in style. In forty minutes each runner covered over 5.5 k! They were pretty tired and proud!

Some anthropologists argue that sprinting made us human. We say, sprinting made us happy humans!
