Mani asked for my tool of choice Mattock or Plough. I said both and I had to use both to dig the ground near the shed. The ground was a bit dry and the grass and weeds interlinked and held tight. They were rolling out like turf and I had to chop them off before carrying them on a flat-tired wheel burrow.
Two more regular volunteers joined us. Sez joined me in digging the field, whereas Julia helped Mani with removing the weeds. We then found that there was a synthetic bed under the ground that we initially got confused with the carpet. It made the digging part bit easy as we just had to pull it out. The tough part was chopping them into chunks.
Once the soil was ready, we then made some beds on which Mani planted some potatoes and asked us to cover them up and water them once done. We did a sloppy job of covering up the beds, we don't know where the beds were. After watering down the planted potatoes, Mani then asked us to take home some harvested plants and vegetables. We had beetroots, onions, spinach, and gooseberries on the harvest today. I ate some cherries and gooseberries and Mani and others split the harvest between themselves.
Sez and Julia then gave me a lift to Northfield allotments, where I joined the after party and had some cakes and bbq.
