Storytime - reading for Magpie Mini's
10 GoodGymers made their way to help their local community in Redbridge.
- Saturday, 27th of June 2020
- Led by Peter Van Tongeren
This was perhaps a mission with a difference - no running around, no carrying or lifting or finding or fixing or cleaning. Instead, find a book suitable for 0-5 year olds and record yourself reading the book out loud, as if you are reading it to a child.
The resulting recordings are send off to the Magpie Project, based in Newham, where they will be shared with the busy single mums that can do with a little helping hand, or in this case a reading voice!
As always, the Goodgym community rose to the occasion and a series of recordings appeared via Whatsapp and email. However, unlike 'normal' community missions, entries are still welcome and will be added in afterwards, so if you missed the 'deadline', please do send it through and you will be added!
It would be too much to upload all the wonderful clips here, so instead I have taken some screenshots to reflect some of the stories & their readers:
- James - Hoot
- Danny - Fred
- Jenny - Stick Man
- David - The Gruffalo
- Vicki - Superworm
- Nicky - Spot on the Move
- Samantha - Get into Bed!
- Rosie - Pip & Posy, The Big Balloon
- Frances - My kat likes to hide in boxes
- Kat - Please Mr Panda
- Peter - The Tiger who came to Tea
P.S... lots of great responses from the project on the recordings sent - lots of love from them for the GG family!
