It was our third task at Dad’s Lane Community Centre and host Steve was pleased to be met by four of us, as they they reached the end of their volunteer push to get the building ready. A huge amount has been done by a wide range of people in the local area to get this building ready for trades to come in and transform the space, ready for it to come back into community use.

In order to help social distancing, we were split into pairs. Annie joined me to build on the turf removal skills we gained on Thursday by stripping the remaining wallpaper in the back room. We had a great chat about everything while we used the steamer and scrapers on the walls. We lamented the lack of live music in the Covid world as another great playlist kept us all moving and motivated. Karin and Liam did the same job in the stairwell and upstairs. Time flew by and before we knew it our task time had passed, and we said our farewells.

It was great to catch up with each other and do a lot of good for this association. We hope to be back when the work is complete to help with the decorating.
