Subterranean Leaf Pick Blues
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Islington.
- Saturday, 30th of December 2017
…Didn’t give us the blues really, but makes for a good pun.
Patrick and Steve arrived and exchanged comments about how unfit they were feeling after the festive break, having jogged a few km to the task already. Then again, getting out and doing missions even before the New Year resolutions kick in is a great way to get back to feeling fantastic. Mr C greeted us warmly, and provided us with some tools and bags to get to work.
The area to be cleared is at basement level and didn’t have any steps: Steve used the broom to check the depth and that he wouldn’t disappear when he jumped in: 1.5 inches; should be fine.
Patrick, ever to be relied up on to bring the tunes, put a musical spring in our step with his portable speaker and after much sweeping, scrubbing, shovelling and shimmying, we were done.
Mr C had an uncanny ability to appear just as we were about to take a photo, so we could both be in the shots. He didn’t take on Steve’s idea that it could now serve nicely as a swimming pool. He was really grateful for the help and will be in touch in the future about some more missions!
Three bags of mushy leaves filled, and we were off to meet Goodgym legend Beth Hoskins for a post mission brunch and a chin wag about what the year ahead holds: missions, marathons, and big plans for Goodgym!
