Tarts & Pickers
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Wandsworth.
- Saturday, 13th of March 2021
I spent another Saturday morning in Asda, shopping for Mrs J. As usual, her daughter V had given time the list of goods. Apparently Mrs J had gone off shepherds pie a bit, and she was stocked up for toilet paper, bread and eggs. But most of her usuals were on the list... Apart from choc ices. Maybe I should have asked if she was okay, I can’t recall a week where I didn’t purchase Mrs J her choc ices! But at least she still had galaxy bars down.
Round the store I went; paper picked, potatoes picked, prawn cocktail picked. The usual fruit mousses, cheddar cheese and custard tarts went in the basket, then galaxy and spaghetti hoops. Tin they went.
I didn’t need to go as far as the freezer this week, so off to the scanners I went. I used to go to the pub, or to a parkrun, but in 2021, this place Asda be my most frequent place to visit!
Time to drop off the shopping, and Mrs J greeted me with a ‘hello’ and a ‘did you get my chocolate?’. Obviously I’ve got your galaxy, Mrs J, I told her. ‘Well, in that case you’d best take one’. I had to fight her off again, explaining that I still had the big bar she gave me two weeks ago. ‘Well only if you’re sure, and I’ll be certain to save you one for next week’, and she waved me off with a ‘love you’.
At least I know if I’m helping Mrs J out next week, I won’t have to put galaxy on my shopping list!
