SESSION ORGANISER
Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Steve Lee
This week, the vaccination centre at John Scott Medical Centre had its maximum team of medics vaccinating people, and needed it! Volunteers, some like myself have signed up for these sessions via Goodgym, are always welcome (details below). Despite the chilly weather, for most of the session there were queues down the street and everyone was kept busy.
Running on adrenaline and biscuits (it’s the GoodGym Islington way!), m y task was to mange the various queues indoors and make sure people were informed, comfortable and nudged along to the next stage of the process.
As the winter months roll in and many people who were prioritised for vaccinations at the beginning of the year are returning for their boosters, some GoodGymmers are returning to their volunteering posts at their local vaccination centres.
If you’re interested, volunteer slots are available in multiple locations throughout the week, last 3 hours each and are entirely loggable to count towards your GoodGym Good Deeds. If you're injury-prone like me, they're a great excuse to be on your feet and stretching out to speed your recovery.
You don’t have to keep any regular shifts if you don’t want to, opting in when you have the time (just like GoodGym). Email jane.tyler@vchackney.org and mention you’re a GoodGym volunteer (naturally, they think we’re trustworthy, reliable and lovely). Once they get you signed up on the online system, you can pick which time slots and locations work for you!
