Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Greenwich runner
How did two south easterners ended up in a north western garden? Well, through the magic of GoodGym of course (and the convenient centrality of both our works)!
Vic and I met on a balmy Thursday evening to do some gardening for Mrs P. Having spent a day stuck away in offices, some quality time in the middle of greenery was just what the doctor ordered. We quickly set out to do our respective tasks: Vic digging to remove a shrubbery that, although dead, was still very much clinging for dear life to the ground, while I (as the taller element of the group) was in charge of trimming the hedges. A neighbour quickly came to inspect our work and, presumably finding it satisfactory, enquired about the possibility of having her own garden tended to… possible future mission?
Shrub removed and hedges trimmed as much as possible (there were a few central stems shooting up in the air that were just too far to reach), we carried on weeding between the pavement stones. The time idled away while we talked everything from politics (what else?) to chiropractors’ recommendations and before we knew it, it was time to go. We said our farewells to Mrs P, who was just one of the loveliest people we’ve come across!
It was only after we had left Mrs P’s garden that we realised we’d forgotten to take the “before” pictures… and the “after” ones too! The only solution was to do a quick snap of ourselves in the street, before we each headed back East!
