Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Twelve GoodGymmers braved the chilly night and the threat of rain for a short run to.... oh no, the task has been cancelled and it's actually a 3.5k run each way up to Boleyn road again to continue transforming the weedy mess into a delightful public area for local residents.
We worked our way up as a group and met Myra who was ready and waiting in her van with lots of gloves and tools.
And a good thing we had the gloves and tools for the battle against brambly stuff, prickly stuff, stingy stuff, rough stuff, thorny stuff and even barbed wire. We worked hard yanking, cutting, raking, and clearing in the dark with only a few headtorches to help us. We even saw some cool spiders. We're all fans of spiders, right?
Oh well, at least it wasn't raining......
After 20 minutes of hard work, and feeling a little soggy, we had two very respectable piles of prickly stuff and the area was looking much clearer. It won't be long before these weeds are a distant memory. This is one of those classic GoodGym tasks that makes you feel like you're really making a difference.
We thanked Myra and headed off. On the way home we had a few surges of speed and the classic lunge/high knees game which is rather self descriptive.
7k of running and some proper physical work. Great job everybody as always. Brahmbles (new nickname) is back next week. Sign up for it here,
