Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Durning Hall is a key community centre in East London, it's run by the Aston-Mansfield charity who tackle the effects of poverty, deprivation and powerlessness in the area.
8 Runners took to the pavement this week to complete day one of our Durning Hall paint project.
We hastily dodged through the pedestrian traffic of Westfield, it can be a minefield at times, as you come face to face with groups of rushing shoppers on a mission - all the more reason for us to stay alert and on our toes.
Once across the bridge the calmer vibes of the residential streets pick up; we paced through these back roads to Durning Hall where we were greeted by Kasim who kindly took us through to the Chapel so we could begin painting.
Pink bubblegum, Mr Blobby…are a couple of things the group thought of once the paint tins were opened. The paints for the task were generously donated by the Forest Recycling Project in Waltham Forest. We will definitely be putting more of their supplies to good use soon.
Dust sheets down, radiator covers removed, masking tape applied and we were off. With one half of the room complete we downed tools and packed up. Just before we set off back to the Olympic Park we got in a couple rounds of planks and wall holds where the group were able to sit and admire their top notch decorating.
Great effort guys, same time next week.
